1989 R100RS - Low Mileage Survivor
Very nice low mileage R100RS available after extensive reconditioning at MAX BMW!
This bike came to us as part of a collection with only 3,741 miles. Upon receiving the bike we removed the fuel tank and seat to inspect underneath and verified this to be an original low mileage unit.
The tank was removed at this time and cleaned + prepped for re-sealing. A new seat was installed as well.
The engine given the low mileage was very healthy upon initial inspection with strong compression and minimal leak down numbers present. Carbs were removed and cleaned and engine oil and filter were changed. There was an open recall from the mid 90's that had never been completed so that was also performed (brake light switch recall).
Tank was relined and new fuel lines and fuel petcocks were installed. New tires were installed (Michelin Road Classic) as well as a new Battery.
Suspension was rebuilt with forks receiving new springs, seals, gaskets, crush rungs, guide rings and fresh oil. Steering head bearings were also replaced. Front brakes were rebuilt with a new brake master cylinder, new brake lines, new brake pads, and caliper rebuild kits.
Final drive was inspected and fluid was flushed and refilled with new drain plug gasket. Transmission oil was also drained and replaced. New neutral switch was installed.
Adjusted valves and replaced valve cover gaskets. Installed emissions delete kit. Prepped and painted airbox and battery tray. Performed carb sync after cleaning.
